However, we can get with the times and start learning lumens. Lumens are the measurement of light produced by an LED, just like Watts with incandescent bulbs. For example, a warm white, or the same light as an incandescent is around 2700 – 4000 lumens.

But most Morris LED recessed lighting come in between 1000 – 2675. However, this is not about color; in fact, there is a different measurement for that.

Kelvin Measurements in Recessed Lighting

Morris LED recessed lighting options measure the color of the light in Kelvin. Kelvin is used because it is a measure of temperature, as in the temperature of the color. For example, the standard incandescent bulb has around 2700 Kelvin. That is the yellowish tone you get from normal bulbs.

Consider recessed lighting kelvins as different temperatures of white light. You can get a warm white with a yellow glow with any fixture between 2000K – 3000K, for a cool white you want 3100K – 4500K and a crisp daylight glow at around 4600K – 6500K. Beam Angle

One of the more important Morris LED recessed lighting options is beam angle. The beam angle is used to measure the spread of light produced by the fixture. This measurement usually comes in degrees since they are recessed. However, recessed lighting also requires a wider angle of spread, at least 60 degrees is often recommended.

The wider the angle the bigger the spread. Most Morris recessed lighting fixtures will come with a spread of around 90 degrees. This is important because it can tell you how many fixtures you would need to fill a space with light.

IC Rating

The last important Morris LED recessed lighting options to look out for is the IC rating. Most office buildings and some stores may not need to worry about this, but some will. IC rating stands for “Insulation Contact” Rating. This will determine the heat produced by the fixture itself.

LEDs don’t have a lot of heat created by the light. However, it is still something people should look for to be on the safe side. Otherwise, ignoring the IC rating could lead to a fire hazard which is far worse than saving a few bucks on recessed lighting fixtures.
